Stephen Piccot serves as Director of Advanced Energy and Transportation Technologies for Southern Research Institute and has overall responsibility for the Institutes operations in North Carolina. He has 30 years of experience executing and leading environmental, energy and transportation technology research, development, and demonstration efforts. Mr. Piccot founded the Clean Energy Development Center in Durham, North Carolina – an advanced energy laboratory that designs, builds, operates pilot-scale industrial prototypes of advanced technologies that produce a range of bioproducts.
He has developed national measurement standards, field-demonstrated advanced energy and vehicle technologies, and developed energy demand and emissions forecast models. He has advised several organizations on technology issues including the World Bank, the Secretariat of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, the U.S. EPA, The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce, and the Center for the Advancement of Energy Markets.
